Meet The Team

 

The Year 6 teachers are Miss Brown (Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays) & Mr Owens (Thursdays and Fridays)

 

Mrs Moore, Miss Hedges and Mr Van de Leeuw are our Learning Support Assistants. 

 

Important Information

 

SATS Week will be: Monday 13th May to Thursday 16th May 2024

Y6 Residential Isle and Wight - 17th - 21st June 2024

Y6 Production - Matinee, 1:30pm 9th July and Evening, 6:30pm 10th July

 

P.E - Wednesdays and Fridays

Year 6 do not need to come to school in their P.E kit on these days, they will change on the day. Year 6 will be going home in their P.E kits on these days too so kit needs to be in for the next P.E session. 

 

Forest School 

Year 6 will have Forest School Days. They will have 3 over the year. Dates will be released to parents with plenty of time to get ready.

 

Curriculum Information

Summer Term - The Greeks

 

Writing

Our writing this half term will be focused around non-fiction texts. We will be studying the Greeks and writing across a variety of different genres, capturing lots different areas of the Greeks.

Maths

In Year 6 we follow the White Rose Maths scheme at Long Crendon School. This final term we will be focusing on revising all the areas of maths we have studied over the year. As well as this we complete transition work ready for Y7 and complete maths projects that get the children investigating maths problems.

 

History & Geography 

This half term Y6 will be following both a Geography and History focus: The Greeks!

The children will first learn about the different periods of ancient Greece, and place the civilisation in time. They will explore how the different areas of Greece were governed, and compare the two city-states of Athens and Sparta. Children will use primary and secondary sources to find out about the daily life of the ancient Greeks, before exploring Greek mythology and the impact of some of the great philosophers of the time. In the final lesson, we will reflect on how the ancient Greek civilisation still influences modern life today. 

 

Science

 

 

Art & DT 

This half term will be a Art focus. Sculpture and 3D. Making Memories is the focus. Children will create a variety of pieces: exploring self, relief work, creating memory museums and a memory sculpture.

 

PE - Taught by S4A ( Sports For All)

S4A will be running our Year 6 P.E sessions. This term they will focus on 

 

Computing 

At Long Crendon School we use the Purple Mash scheme in our ICT lessons.

PSHE 

This half term our PSHE topic is Relationships. We cover: mental health and the children's mental health, love and loss, power and control, being online: real and fake and using technology responsibly.
