Thame Partnership Yr 5/6 Mixed Netball League

Congratulations to the whole team for their 7-3 win against Brill away last week in the final match of the league. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend due to a minor knee operation, but thanks to Mrs Batson and Mrs Wallace for their support. I am told it was a great performance from LC, which is testament to the progress they have made this term. The whole squad should feel proud of themselves for their enthusiasm, resilience and sports conduct. Thank you to all involved and congratulations on a well-deserved win!

Thame Partnership Yr 5/6 Mixed Netball League

What a great match this week! The girls played so well against Barley Hill at home, narrowly losing 5-4. The team put together some fantastic passages of play, moving the ball around with confidence and defending well against a strong opposition. Well done to those girls who volunteered to bench between quarters and thank you to all of the team for their efforts. Congratulations to Martha for being nominated player of the match by Barley Hill. That said, I felt all players were outstanding and all deserve credit for their roles in the match.

Thame Partnership Yr5/6 Girls Football Tournament at the ASM Stadium

We were delighted to have taken two teams to the tournament with a few new players who were keen to get involved. This meant that we didn't quite have enough for subs as well, which meant that the girls had to work hard in all their matches against some strong competition, who did have additional players to rotate. Despite not going through to the qualifying rounds, the girls all played well as a team and enjoyed the experience. Well done for a great effort girls and thank you to Mrs Jarman for her support.

Thame Partnership Yr 5/6 Mixed Netball League

Despite some interest from the boys, our squad for this year is an all girls team. The girls played well against John Hampden away this week losing 9-6. It was a game of two halves and we played our best in the second with some strong performances from goal shooters Florence and Maggie. The squad haven't had a lot of time to practise together and for some, this is their first  opportunity to play in a league match. They were all superstars and gave 100% - so well done team LC!

Thame Partnership Yr 5/6 Boys Football League

The boys had a very well-deserved win against John Hampden this week after a run of bad luck against other teams. Long Crendon produced so many chances which, if it wasn’t for some outstanding saves from the John Hampden keeper, would have given a much larger scoreline than the 2-1 victory achieved. It was great to see the boys enjoying playing as a team with some brilliant passing and movement on and off the ball. There was some great defence too, keeping John Hapden from ever having much of a look in. Well done again Long Crendon, it was great to see you supporting one-and-other and relishing in a home win to end the season.

Turnfurlong Cross Country Run

It was a cold and wet Saturday morning, but our Long Crendon long distance runners (Yrs3-6) were ready and motivated. We had 11 pupils in total, which was a little low in numbers compared to some of the competing schools. All of LC’s team ran well, with a special mention to Ava Kemp, Oliver Holmes, Harper Holland and Charlotte Hunting who all received medals in their races. The Year 3 Girls almost took a team medal coming first and second, but unfortunately we didn’t have another representative for that year group, so didn’t quality. It was a great effort all round considering the conditions and all of the pupils should feel proud of their achievement. Fantastic resilience!

Thame Partnership Yr 5/6 Boys Football League

Long Crendon played another hard match against Brill on Wednesday, losing 3-1 again. The scoreline wasn't a reflection on the game, with LC playing a brilliant second half as well as having a disallowed goal, which should have been given. The take away from me was the sense of unity and teamwork that weas evident, with everyone playing well together, passing, creating chances and supporting each other. I was also impressed with the encouragement some less experienced players received from their more established peers. It was great to see and I felt proud of our school. Well done to all.

Thame Partnership Yr3/4 Boys Football Tournament at the ASM Stadium

Long Crendon had a great afternoon of football competing in 4 matches against our Thame partnerships schools. We won two matches, drew one and lost one. Unfortunately, we were knocked out of the final. The boys played well and showed fantastic resilience in the freezing conditions and prevailing winds. I was really proud to receive some wonderful feedback from another school, whos’ coach/teacher said that we were the most polite and respectful team that they played. Congratulations on modelling our values and representing our school so brilliantly. Thank you also to the parents who came to support and help with some of the coaching!

Thame Partnership Yr 5/6 Boys Football League

Long Crendon had a challenging match against Barley Hill on Thursday with a 3-1 defeat. Barley Hill had some high ranked players who had clearly played together before and were determined to win. Thanks to a superb performance from our stand-in Goalkeeper Connor, they would have scored a few more, with a number of chances they had early on.

All the boys played well, with a number of rolling subs to allow opportunity for the players to gain experience in different positions and to allow new players time to develop.

We were proud of the team for their support and respect for their opponents. Barley Hill thanked us for making them feel welcome and for a great game!
