Beech - Year 6
During this week, Year 6 have recap what they have learnt in Fractions. Please continue to encourage them to practice what they have learnt as Fractions can be quite tricky for them. Continued practice often help to improve their understanding. We will now be moving on to Converting Metric Units of Measurement.
The children have been working up to writing their own diary entry as Anne Frank. They have been using dialogue, relative clauses, prepositional phrases and various other grammatical structures to ensure their writing come alive. During our Science lessons, the children have been gazing into their partners eyes trying to identify the different parts. They have been learning why the pupil seem to change sizes at different times as well how we see objects.
We look forward to our visit to Bletchley Park to continue our learning about WW2 during next term. Further information to come later on.

Weekly Blog: w/c Monday 7th July 2025
In Maths we have continued our topic on converting units, with a focus on volume and capacity. On Monday the children will estimate the capacity of various containers before we measure their capacity using water.
In English, we have continued 'How to Train Your Dragon' by Cressida Cowell and on Friday we will examine how to use speech marks using a sample from the text. We will also be revisiting writing instructions - this time on how to make a sandwich and feed a baby!
In DT, the children have now finished their spaghetti truss bridges which will be on show at the forthcoming Music / Arts Evening. Some of them remain understandably fragile, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that they will transport to the evening in good shape. The childen's poetry self-portraits we drew last term in Art will also be on display.
Well done to all the children who have bravely participated in the Gig Assemblies this term! Amazing!
The end of term is approaching - please can you make sure your child brings in 2 named plastic bags on the last Friday of term, ie. Friday 18th July? Thank you.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend when it comes.
With best wishes,
Mrs Gilbert Scott
