Welcome to Year 4. I am Mrs Woodward, the Year 4 teacher and this year we are supported by Mrs O’Malley and Miss Hanlon.

Year 4 Spring Term – Our Current Topic
Teeth and Digestion – The Demon Dentist by David Walliams
Our topic this term will be based around Teeth and digestion. Within this we will be learning about the different types of teeth and their uses, the difference between animals and humans teeth and how food travels through the body. We will be using the book Demon Dentist by David Walliams to support our learning.
Our class reader will be Peanut Jones and the illustrated city – We are really looking forward to sharing this book with the class.
We are really excited by our topic this term.

Y4 – Class Information
Homework
Homework will be set every half term on our virtual google classroom page (as in Year 3) . Each week the children will be expected to complete at least 1 activity off the grid and this will need to be handed in by a Wednesday.
You are expected to learn your 5 key words each week and to familiarise yourself with the weekly spelling patterns.
Times Tables Rockstar is available for you practice your tables knowledge and you should spend at least 3 minutes per day. Tables will be tested 3 times a week on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Reading
Your aim is to read/share a text 3 x per week (at least) to an adult. Record when you have done this in your homework diary and hand your diary into school on a Friday to be checked. There is a house point on offer for all those who have completed the task!
Swimming
There will be swimming in the Autumn Term -weather reliant. Watch this space for further details.
P.E
PE will take place on Monday am and Thursday am. Children will need to come into school in their kit. Competitive sports will continue to take place every third week.
Forest School
This will take place every Tuesday afternoon in small groups therefore your child will take part every other week.
