Sports Premium 2020-21

At Long Crendon School children experience a wide range of sporting activities. The school is fortunate in having excellent facilities for physical education with extensive playing fields, hard court area, an outdoor swimming pool and a large hall/gym. There is a progressive PE curriculum in place ensuring children are taught a broad spectrum of sports in an age appropriate way. All children are taught swimming every year.

A variety of extra-curricular sports clubs run throughout the year for all age groups and are open to all abilities. Please see ‘Clubs and Activities’ for what is happening at the moment.

We are part of the Buckingham School Sport Partnership and selected pupils from all the year groups take part in a variety of competitions between other primary schools. During the past year our children have excelled at these competitions both in their ability and their attitude. Matches against local schools are also played throughout the year.

Within school all children take part in competitive sports once every three weeks in their house competitions. Towards the end of the summer term all the children take part in Sports Day gaining points for their houses. At the end of the year all the points gained from competitive sports are totalled and the winning house is awarded the Sports Trophy.

Challenges are also set three times a year for the whole school to take part in. Children are encouraged to improve their Personal Best.

Sports Day 2021

During the morning the children compete in mixed age House teams. They apply themselves to numerous multi skill activities trying to achieve as many points as possible for their House. The morning ends with a long distance run which the children had requested!

In the afternoon the children compete in sprint races, relays and obstacle races. The Parents are invited to have a go at the Obstacle race and re-live their younger days of going on space hoppers and jumping in sacks! The afternoon ends with a Tug of War competition between the Houses.

Due to Covid some alterations had to be made to how we did Sports Day. Unfortunately we were unable to have Parents come to watch but the children still had a fantastic day. The children still enjoyed their Multi Skill activities in the morning working in their Key stage Houses, and then enjoyed the competition of the races.

This year’s winners were MAPLE.
