Useful Information

Homework

Homework is set on Friday and are expected back latest, the following Wednesday. Children will have a grid of activities related to our topic, which they can choose from.

Reading

Reading a little bit every night is beneficial for your child’s learning not only in reading but in their writing too. Please write in their reading record when they read and if a book is finished.

When a book needs changing, your child can put it and their reading record in the ‘reading books to change’ box. One of us will check the diary and change the book and it will be handed out at the end of the day. As children become more fluent readers, they will be asked to choose their own books however their diaries still need to be handed in in the morning before this happens.

Spelling

A new spelling rule is taught each week and then example words and the rule will be sent home in spelling books to reinforce at home. Spellings are taught for writing, so we do not expect the children just to learn a list of words. We would like them to understand the rule and be able to apply that to words they come across when they are writing. Spelling rules will be sent out on Friday

Forest School

As forest school is first thing on a Tuesday morning (alternate weeks for each group). Children can come dressed in their kit with their uniform in a bag. We will then send the kit back home at the end of the day for the following week. Wellies can stay at school.

PE

PE is on Tuesday and Thursday however it is beneficial to have kit in all week.
