Summer Term Issue 32 – 3 July 2015

Dear Parents/Carers
I hope to see you on our open afternoon from 1.30 to 3.00 on Monday 6th July. Visitors will be free to walk around our extensive grounds to see our provision for Learning Outside the Classroom.
Friends and family are welcome!
Kind regards
Sue Stamp

WATER SAFETY

Following a recent drowning, the Buckinghamshire Safeguarding Children Board is asking all schools to remind all pupils about water safety as we head towards the summer holidays and nicer weather. Water may look safe, but it can be dangerous. Please see the attached poster.

CAUTIONARY NOTICE

Please note that we have received an unofficial report of a man in a red car loitering around the tennis courts and park area, early in the evening. Please remain vigilant and remind children not to talk to strangers. Thank you.

ROALD DAHL FESTIVAL

This takes place in Aylesbury town centre tomorrow morning and we will once again be taking part in the parade. It’s great fun! Why not come and watch?

SCHOOL TRAVEL PLAN SURVEY

As part of the feedback on how the School Travel Plan initiatives are supporting sustainable methods for children to travel to and from school, there is a survey that you are asked to complete as a family for EACH pupil at the school. The travel survey has been given to each child today. You are asked to select up to two ways that you travel to school. Please hand your completed surveys to the class teacher or the school office by July 14th, thank you.

THAME SHOW ART COMPETITION

The theme is “Market”, there are 3 categories:

  • A painting of a Market
  • A model of a Market
  • A collage of a Market

All need to be A4 size.
The competition is broken up into 2 age groups: 5-8yrs and 8-11yrs for Primary.
Entries should be brought into school by Monday 20th July and we will select the best 6 in each category and age group to submit to the show.

Summer Term Issue 30 – 18 June 2015

Dear Parents/Carers
The wet weather not withstanding, feedback from the children on the Magna Carta celebrations was that it was great fun! I really enjoyed the jousting and was pleased that so many people stopped to admire the shields our children had made. Our Treble Recorder Club started the musical entertainment at the celebrations. They gave an admirable performance of three medieval pieces which Mr Hamilton had arranged especially for them. Well done to Jon, Nathan, Zac, Aidan and Max!
Kind regards
Sue Stamp

EMPTY CLASSROOM DAY

Today is empty classroom day and we will all be spending the afternoon learning outside!

YEAR 2 CLASS TEACHER APPOINTMENT

I am very pleased to be able to tell you that last Friday we appointed Miss Rosanna Monkcom to be our new Year 2 teacher from September. Many of you will already know Miss Monkcom from her time at Tiny Acorns. Miss Monkcom is currently teaching Year 2 at Nettlebed School in Oxfordshire and she comes highly recommended by Mr Hankey, our previous Deputy Head, who is now the Headteacher at Nettlebed. We are really looking forward to welcoming her to the team at Long Crendon.

SAINSBURY’S VOUCHERS

If you have any Sainsbury’s vouchers, please make sure they are brought into school as soon as possible.

Thank you PTA The next PTA meeting is on Tuesday 30th June, all welcome. Also, the latest PTA minutes are now available to view on the website.

NATIONAL BIKE WEEK

Thank you to everyone who supported our ‘Cycle to School’ week by pedalling and scooting to school. Also to Haddenham Cycle Training for providing training courses to Key Stage 2 children. Just a gentle reminder that you must not cycle on the school drive. You should cross the road with the crossing patroller, on foot, and walk your bike on the school path.

Thank you.
