Sports and Sports Premium Funding
At Long Crendon School children experience a wide range of sporting activities. The school is fortunate in having excellent facilities for physical education with extensive playing fields, hard court area, an outdoor swimming pool and a large hall/gym.
A variety of extra-curricular sports clubs run throughout the year for all age groups and are open to all abilities. Please see ‘Clubs and Activities’ for what is happening at the moment.
We are part of the Buckingham School Sport Partnership and selected pupils from all the year groups take part in a variety of competitions between other primary schools. During the past year our children have excelled at these competitions both in their ability and their attitude.
Within school all children take part in competitive sports once every three weeks in their house competitions. Towards the end of the summer term all the children take part in Sports Day gaining points for their houses. At the end of the year all the points gained from competitive sports are totalled and the winning house is awarded the Sports Trophy.
END OF THE SUMMER TERM 2017
PARTNERSHIP FINALS DAY
This was attended by our Year 4 Hockey team and our Year 4 Tennisl team. A very high standard of play was seen by all the teams that attended.
LEVEL 3 FINALS DAY
Both our Year 4 and Year 5/6 Tennis Teams qualified for this County Competition. They played with amazing skill and mental attitude and showed fair play. The Year 4 team came SECOND and the 5/6 team came FIRST. We are very proud of them 🙂
During the morning the children competed in mixed age House teams. They applied themselves to numerous multi skill activities trying to achieve as many points as possible for their House. The morning ended with a long distance run which the children had requested!
In the afternoon the children competed in sprint races, relays and obstacle races. The Parents then had a go at the Obstacle race and re-lived their younger days of going on space hoppers and jumping in sacks! The afternoon ended with a Tug of War competition between the Houses. There was much cheering for the different Houses throughout the day and loads of determination on children’s faces!
The points gained from the different activities of the day were added up. NEPTUNE won the Sports Day Shield this year taking it away from Venus who won last year.
SPORTS PARTNERSHIP AWARDS
This year two of our KS1 pupils won awards for Leadership and Achievement. They went to a Celebration evening in Milton Keynes where they were presented with their awards.
